She won many awards on the basis of her performances in the films she worked. While receiving the award of best actress at 6th Bhojpuri Awards she said that “I am happy to receive this award.
This award is not only for me but this award is dedicated to all my fans who have loved me and my performance always”. Rani Chatterjee is best known for her roles in the films such as- ‘saath saheliya’, ‘deewana’, ‘devra bada satawela’ etc. She is a trained actor in acting field.
She often said that she like Arvind Kullu and Ritesh Pandey as an actors. She is a good dancer as well and considers Madhuri Dixit as her ideal. Along with acting in films she also sang few songs in both Hindi and Bhojpuri languages because she is a great singer too. Rani is active on social media and has many followers. Rani Chatterjee is one of the most popular face in Bhojpuri films and because of her name and skills she is known as the ‘queen’ of Bhojpuri cinema.

Rani Chatterjee was born on 3 November, 1989 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Rani’s real and birth name is Sahiba Sheikh but she uses her name as an actor is ‘Rani Chatterjee’. After debuting in films, she changed her name while shooting her first film because she had to shoot scenes of entering into a temple in the film. The director of the Ajay Sinha made her change her name due to any unnecessary controversies over name and religion and told her to address herself as Rani in public.
But once in an interview she was addressed as ‘Chatterjee’ from that rime she kept her full name as Rani Chatterjee. Rani lives in Mumbai with her mother- Gulzaar Sheikh, sister- Shabnam Sheikh, and brother- Sameer Sheikh. But she also has to niece with whom she posts a lot of pictures on social media. As her name is Sahiba Sheikh, she belongs to a Muslim family.
Relationship
Recently, Rani Chatterjee revealed that she is going to marry her long time boyfriend this year in 2020. She didn’t revealed much of his identity but she said that he is an television actor she will later disclose him. This information about her marriage, she confirmed this to her spot boy by saying that “Yes, I have found the love of my life and we are dating each other from quite some time now.”
They decided to get marry by the end of 2020. About her boyfriend she says that “Well, I don’t want to reveal his identity so soon or else hamara pyaar duniya ko pata chal jayega but I promise to my fans that I shall be introducing him, months before our marriage. For now I can just say that he is a TV actor. Till the time, let’s keep it a secret.” Rani says that the wedding will be conducted according to Muslim ceremony and it will be a nikaah ceremony as her family is Muslim and most of her friends too.
And this makes her excited to think about her nikaah. Currently, she is in the show ‘khatron ke khiladi 10’ hosted by Rohit Shetty in Bulgaria. Meanwhile, she also thought of entering in another reality show ‘bigg boss’ but she took her name back due to some health issues. Rani Chatterjee debuted with her first movie ‘sasura bada paisawala’ in 2003 and stepped into Bhojpuri films. It is a family drama in which she worked with Manoj Tiwari. She is most popularly known for her film, ‘nagin’ in 2013 and this made her receive the award of best actress in bhojpuri films.
In 2003, when she signed her first film, it is said that she was studying in tenth class that time and she got that offer of film at the age of fifteen. In her first film, she was named as ‘Rani’ and from that time she kept her name Rani onwards. Her best performance is said to be in- ‘saath saheliya’ (2009), ‘deewana’ (2009), and ‘devra bada satawela’ (2010). She also sang few songs and she debuted in her career with her first single debut song ‘ka ho ka haal chaal ba’ and also ‘chala long drive pe’ for the film ‘raja weds rani’.
Rani Chatterjee is in the show ‘khatron ke khiladi’, and she took this challenge even after having her schedules of her films. She was also seen in ‘the kapil sharma show’ in 2019 as a guest with other bhojpuri stars. Some of her popular films are- ‘ganga yamuna saraswati’ (2012), ‘nagin’ (2013), ‘sherni’ (2014), ‘prem deewani’ (2014), ‘dariya dil’ (2014), ‘dulaara’ (2015), ‘Rani banal jwala’ (2015), ‘rangbaaj’ (2017). Till now Rani Chatterjee gave her performance in 300 films. She charges about 6 to 8 lakhs for per film.
Controversies/Affairs/Why in News?
Rani Chatterjee was involved in few controversies. One of them was associated with Akshara Singh and Pawan Singh. Akshara filed complaint against singer Pawan who was forcing her to posting her obscene pictures on her social media. Rani expressed displeasure on this topic and to those who were involving her name into the controversy.
To put her opinion she posted a video by saying that “To all my haters, I am putting this video out just to warn all the so called fans of other actors if you dare took my name again in any matter you don’t know the truth. I will definitely take legal action action against all of you. Please of dragging my name when you don’t even know what I have went through. So it’s my humble request to everyone stop stop stop.”
Another controversy about her was that she was threatened by her school teacher posing as tantrik. He also forced her to give him 15 lakhs or if won’t then he’ll kill her by using mantras and told that Raj asked him to do so. Ajay Pandey also said that all this plan was started with Raj by saying “Raj assured me that nothing would happen to me and asked me to threaten Rani”. Court found that they planned it together to threat Rani if she agrees to give money they will divide it between them. The court ordered to look for that Bhojpuri lyricist, Ritu Raj.
