Keira Christina Knightley is an English actress. She was seen in her first featured film debut in 1994. Knightley’s breakthrough was seen in the movie ‘Bend it like Beckham’ in 2002. She is best known for winning many awards such as British Academy Film Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards for her films. Knightley is also a big fan of football games and she is a supporter of West Ham United Football Club based in London. When she was just 20 , she received an Academy Award Award for her role in the film,’Pride and Prejudice’ in 2006. Because of this, she became the fifth youngest actress in Oscar history to receive this honor.
Knightley was just six when she was seen by an agent for acting. Knightley not only won awards and hearts of people by her acting skills and talent but she is also ranked as the ‘second sexiest voice in the country’ by the UK’s Royal National Institute.

She is born in an family of actors because her father, Will Knightley was an English television ad stage actor whereas her mother, Sharman was an Scottish playwright , scriptwriter and an actress.
A truth behind the name ‘Keira’ is that her mother wanted to name her daughter Kira on the name after an Russian skater ‘Kira Ivanova’. But when it came to register her new born child, she misspelled it and she ended up naming her ‘Keira’. Her father admired that Russian skater that they wanted to name her daughter after her name. She was introduced to ballet and theater at an very early age.
This made her interest developed in acting and at the age of six she was contacted by an agent. Knightley was also diagnosed with dyslexia when she was 6 but she fully recovered at 11. Keira caught up in few of the controversies. Keira Knightley published an essay in which she criticized ‘The duchess of Cambridge’ for her appearance. This collection was named as “Feminists Don’t Wear Pink” (And Other Lies). In this essay she criticizes Kate Middleton’s appearance when she was pregnant.
In essay she wrote “Hide, hide our pain, our bodies splitting, our breasts leaking, our hormones raging. Look beautiful. Look stylish, don’t show your battleground, Kate”. She wrote such lines because Kate was spotted outside the hospital for seven hours with her face made up and high heels on. This essay was “The Weaker Sex” and she dedicated this to her three year old daughter, Edie.
Another controversy was made due to controversial comments upon her Disney films. Keira in a show ‘the Ellen DeGeneras’ reveals that she banned her three year daughter to not to watch Disney movies. She says that “She is banned from watching Cinderella, as the film is about waiting around for a rich guy to rescue her – no, rescue yourself.” A guardian replies that “Don’t fuck with Cinderella. Her fans will end you”.
